About Me
LaShawn here! (she/her) I’ve spent the last 15+ years in the DEIB space across a myriad of industries. In addition to working in tech/entertainment, most recently at TikTok, I’ve worked in higher education and secondary schools in some of the oldest institutions in the country. As a DEIB practitioner and strategist, my work is centered on building pedagogically sound and culturally responsive curriculum and content in globally, racially and economically diverse settings. I develop and facilitate workshops and training for multiple demographics–faculty, staff, trustees, C-suite, managers and individual contributors–and examine policy and practices to create more equitable communities.
What has remained a constant in all of my work is a deep belief in storytelling as a praxis for making meaning of the world around us, making connections with people, fostering belonging, and building empathy. These beliefs were sharpened through my studies at Wesleyan University and Harvard Graduate School of Education.
